Keep antibiotics working

This section contains information for veterinary professionals. The veterinary profession has ultimate control of antibiotic prescribing as ALL antibiotics for animals must be prescribed by a veterinary surgeon. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is recognised as a global threat. To date, in the veterinary sector it is not recognised on the same scale as in human medicine, but with closely linked ecosystems, including pets and owners, it is vital that interventions to reduce the emergence and spread of AMR are all-encompassing, with active participation by everyone. These interventions must impact positively on health and welfare of all sectors.
